Happy Easter

Good Morning, nearly Easter!!
I have been playing with my brayer and Adriondack ink pads, all available from Charmed Cards and Crafts.

For this card i used ripped card as the templates for the hills and sun, then run the brayer over them with different shades to make the landscape. I used a stamp for the fence and Henry Hare Download, from Animal Magic which I coloured with copics, adding flowers and detail with the Copic fine liner.
Look out for my challenge on Sunday and hope you have a wonderful Easter.

Monday Mojo - Easter Egg Hunt

Well you wouldn't have to hunt a lot to find Easter eggs in this house! Hello to you all, Karen here with your Monday Mojo card. Did you remember to put the clocks forward yesterday? If not then you are probably in an awful rush cos YOU'RE AN HOUR LATE!!! Quick, get to work, I'll wait until you come back home, ha ha ha.

As it's almost Easter I have created yet another Easter card, like my card for yesterday's challenge, plus I have gone with the challenge theme again and created a shaped card. This time the shape is a house.

The download images I have used here are Easter Holly 3-in-1 (from the original Holly & Madison bundle) and Henry Hare from the Animal Magic Bundle.

I used various colours of American Traditional plain textured cardstock for the house, path, door and base of roof. The window was cut on my Silhouette, as was the vine, the grass and the chicks. I used a Karen Foster Easter Rub-Ons for the sentiment.

Holly was attached to the card using foam pads:

All the eggs were cut on my Silhouette and coloured in with Copics (as were the two images). The bottom run of eggs is a Felt Fusion Easter Egg ribbon.

Quite a lot of work but the finished result is worth it I think. It's a sizable card and does look much better in real life.

Have a lovely day. If you make any Easter cards with the downloads then please link by comments to this post as I would love to see them.

Scruff the Third!!

With life in the Dingle house never having a dull moment I took the (rushed) opportunity to make my third Scruff card using inspiration from those wonderful ideas given previously.
It looks to me that ol' Scruff has had a night out on the tiles!

Yes, and what Dingle card would ever be complete without wet glossy accents! xx

Scruff number 2!

Here he is, looking very butch in his studded collar today - not a girlie pink ribbon in sight!

I love this inking technique with the cuttlebug folders, so easy to do too. Hmmm...now what shall I do with Scruff 3 and 4?

Scruff in bulk!!!

Firstly may I take the opportunity to wish all our readers a very happy, healthy and crafty New Year!! Let's start as you mean to go on and get crafting.

In a mad attempt to get organised I thought if I was colouring in one Scruff...I may as well colour in a few more, save time, be prepared and all that but boy, cutting out all those little tufts of fur!!

So here is Scruff card number 1!! I used one of my wonderful new K & CO papers and my first attempt at an inking technique on my Cuttlebug Embossing Folder!

Watch out for Scruff card number 2 tomorrow where Scruff looks a bit more masculine!

2009!

Well I cant believe how time has flown and we are nearly in 2009 already!
I remember lighting my candle and making 'A millenium Wish!' seem like only a year ago! This is a large New Year card( excuse the pic, cant get a descent picture)
I blew up some numbers on word, printed and cut them out and then used these to cut my silver card numbers out with, which i ran through my big shot with a swirl cuttlebug folder, available from Charmed cards.
Mounted on colossal Christmas paper and them aded the images from the 'Animal Antics' download collection. Checkout the blinkies to find them.

Monday Mojo

Yikes! I almost forgot the Monday Mojo this week! It's been quite a hectic weekend and it totally slipped my mind.

I took the chance to make a card for DH who is to be 40 in a couple of weeks. OK so it's not kind but he will see the funny side (unless his sense of humour gets left behind with his thirties!). I wanted to show you how the downloads can interact with photos, and how great pictures are on greeting cards. It has been a favourite embellishment of mine for years, you can' get much more personal than that!

The card uses Henry Hare from the Animal Magic collection to help me point out the crows feet around this poor man's eyes.

I made another sentiment circle and it's a little cruel, the wording reads "Age is not just a number, it's you getting old!". To soften the blow I placed a crown on top of his head (even though my daughter Aimee proclaimed it to be "girlie"). I think guys like a little humour on their cards, and lets face, you need someone to put a smile on your face when you hit the big 4-0! He he

...and here is the sentiment just for you if you have a 40 year old-to-be to make a card for. Click for large version then right-click and "save as". Usual copyrights apply.

Don't forget to enter yesterday's challenge.

Bye for now

That Friday Feeling!

More waffle from me today I am afraid- I so like Fridays!!!

Not much to show I am afraid but I have made a little christmas card using Little Birdie from the Animal Magic collection. I took inspiration from a snowy challenge else where and Nicola's Fur or feather Sunday challenge. I WAS going to give this one to hubby but then he walked into my little room and saw it on the table!!!!

Maddy's Magic!

Good morning campers, Louise here!
My oh my do I have a treat for you today. I was a bit naughty on Saturday; when our fantabulous guest designer Maddy Hill emailed me this project to forward to Nicola for the challenge I kind of...er.... hijacked it (sorry Nicola)! Well! it just had to have a post all of it's own, I think you'll agree.
As you'll know, the challenge from Nicola this week is ''Fur or Feather". Maddy, famous for her imagination as well as her amazing talent went for "hair of the dog" in "The Ultimate Christmas Rescue Kit", brace yourself, this is so funny........

I bet you're impressed already aren't you? Maddy has altered a Daz soap box for this project, I'm loving the spotty red paper. I love the label; "From Ruff to Glamour Puss" I could do with one off these kits now, never mind after Christmas!
It just gets better! Look at all those delightful goodies!

Here's the low down, I love the disclaimer.....
This girl has such a sense of humour!
I'm bowled over by the detail in this project, just look at those eye lashes!. and the dog breath mints! ROFL

Here's a close up, Lady Pusskins is giving away all her beauty tips.

Didn't I tell you you were in for a treat?
Thank you Maddy for giving us some more inspiration and a right good larf!
Pop by tomorrow fo even more mid week mojo! We're spoiling you aren't we!

Monday Mojo and FREE Word Sentiment

Tis Monday again and you may very well be feeling a little upset that the weekend is over - but fear not dear friends, Ellie Elephant from the new Animal Magic collection is here to cheer you up, in fact she is literally jumping through hoops to make you happy :o)

Products used:
  • Ellie Elephant. I used quite a lot of Glossy Accent to highlight and give depth. Using glossy accent really brings a project to life. The picture below has the flash highlighting exactly where I put the Glossy Accent.

  • Bazzill cardstock as the base card and also the two central strips - edges on the two strips have been lightly distressed and inked.

  • Basic Grey Eva Paper for main background paper. Edges were inked in Pink Distress Ink.

  • Basic Grey Eva Paper embossed with a Cuttlebug Embossing folder. Edges were then distressed with my Tim Holtz paper distresser and lightly inked in pink ink as before. Two sides were cross-stitched onto the main card (by hand). To do this I pricked the holes first then sewed.

  • Large pink hoop cut from pearlescent pink cardstock. I used two Nestability shapes to cut.

  • The hoop is decorated with pink beads

  • Basic Grey buttons and brads, plus a Dovecraft Funky brad, was also used.

  • My sentiment was created by me. I printed it out on white Bazzill cardstock then mounted on a piece of cardboard. The back of a cereal box will do just fine, all we want is the extra thickness and depth. After cutting out the shape I sanded down and lightly distressed the edges.
I am giving away my word sentiment as a freebie for you this week, if you want to get your crafting hands on it all you have to do is click this link to the Charmed site and write your name and email addy in the online form and I shall email it to you as soon as I can. Usual restrictions apply, personal use only blah blah blah.

I would love to see what you do with your word sentiment so when you have finished please leave a comment so I can come and have a look. If you want to make your own word sentiment then don't forget our class on the Charmed site.

I hope this got your mojo flowing a little. Pop back tomorrow when there will be more to inspire.

Midweek Mojo!

WOW....what a lot of fabby, fabby work going on. I am especially loving the new Animal Magic download creations that are suddenly springing into life.

There has been a discussion going on over at Charmed as to whether or not "Lady" Pusskins should have been a girlie cat or a tom cat....so I took Karen's resizing/reshaping tip from Monday and created 3 different cats. A large fatter tom cat, a medium slim girlie cat and a bubby kitty....and ended up with this!

I created a circular sentiment "From our pad to yours" by using the tutorial here and finished off by stamping a little paw print in the centre! Rather than colour the crowns in metallic silver or gold I chose bright "party hat" colours. Hope you like it....I had so much fun making it and the new downloads are a dream to colour- thank you Lou and Karen!!

Today I also want to show you another creation from Lea for this week's Black, white and a splash challenge. Thank you Lea, another great creation-the pink black and white work wonderfully together.

Keep your challenge cards coming in to make sure you ge tthe great FREE FAIRY DOTTIE download...don't miss out!

Peggy Pig and Bo Bunny!

Good morning folks!

I'm hoping it's a beautiful day, the reason I don't actually know is that I'm cheating and writing this post the night before so I'm saying good morning but I'm actually about to go to bed! It's like time travelling - maybe I could be the next Doctor Who! Yeeeaaaah!

Anyhoo, I thought I'd tell you about my two latest must have recommendations, the first of course is the Animal Magic download collection (well it had to be!) and the second is one of the brand new ranges from Bo Bunny that goes absolutely perfectly with the animals, it's called Flirty and let me tell you, when I saw it it didn't need to flirt with me, not a single chat up line was required it pulled right away baby!

You need to go here for a closer look at all the goodies but before you pop off, have a look at what I made with one of the papers and one of the stickers (the tag), oh and of course I can't forget Peggy!.......

It's a night time photo with my daylight lamp but it came out OK didn't it?

Have you noticed that dispite her generous curves theres not an ounce of cellulite in sight? some girls have all the luck eh?

Now I'll let you go and check out those new Bo Bunny ranges.....yummy scrummy!

BTW keep those challenge cards coming in so that you can get your free fairy!

Monday Mojo - Using Your Scraps and Re-Sizing

New for Dottie's World are daily posts from the Design Team. This could be something to get your mojo flowing, showcasing new collections, hint and tips, and so on.

Come on, be honest - how often do you use your scraps? If you are anything like me you have a box full of papers that have been half-used. Am I right or am I right? The large A5 card I made here uses scraps only.

Mini Tutorial:
I wanted Henry from our new Animal Magic Download collection a little fatter for this card so I inserted the image into MS Word, got the height the required size (check out my re-sizing tutorial here) then dragged the side to make him the size I wanted:

......and here is my finished card:

  • Henry Hare from the new Animal Magic collection have been printed on a bit of leftover white Bazzill cardstock
  • the sky is from left-over light blue Bazzill which I tore, inked and embossed.
  • The grass is a piece of paper from Basic Grey Mellow collection. I tore the edges and rolled them at the top where it joins the sky, and then inked with brown ink.
  • The house is made from a piece of Prima paper (see my Acetate card with a hint of pink Sunday Challenge). This paper is double-sided so I used the reverse for the windows and door.
  • The roof is white Bazzill that was leftover after printing Henry Hare. This then was edged with my Fiskars Treading water Border Punch and inked.
  • The Sun is a little piece of yellow Mulberry paper. TIP: Brush water in a circle on the reverse of the mulberry paper and gently pull to achieve a feathered effect. After it dried I inked it with orange ink and drew white lines around the edge.
  • The flower stalks are from the same paper as the grass, I inked it to make it darker. The flower heads are from various pieces of left-over papers.

Other than that all I added was a yellow Basic Grey button and a bit of twine, a red heart button, a piece of ribbon, a little HOTP metal clip (for the smoke coming out of the chimney), two metal tulips I had laying around and a few brads for the centres of the flowers. A very economical card, and it's a biggie. It's A5 size and Henry Hare measures 13.5cm!

Pop by tomorrow for another DT post.
