FREE Father's Day Bundle

Hi gang, Karen here :-) Last year for our Father's Day challenge we offered a free bundle of sentiments for you to use on your challenge projects, that bundle has not been available since so we have dusted it off and added a few things to it, to help you with this weeks challenge - FATHER'S DAY. If you look at my DT challenge card this week you will see that I created a frame, some tags and a sentiment inside for my project, we have given them to you for free in this bundle, plus the frame and tags are in transparent format too so you can layer with our digi images and/or print on patterned paper.

To get the free bundle just email me HERE, I will need your blog address also please. Please note that the free bundle is ONLY for people entering our challenge, you do not have to use any of the images/sentiments in your challenge project but you will need to enter using one of our digi downloads.

Happy creating :-)

Wednesday's Scenic Inspiration

Another scene from our new FREE Pixie Scene Bundle. If you have already purchased both our Pixie bundles, then simply email through your order number and we will send you the download link.

Look how substantial the card above looks, yet the main part of the card was simply printed and stuck on layers of plain cardstock. A little lace, a few pearls, a simple rub-on, and a punched border and Bob's your uncle.

Have a great day :-)

Pixie Scene 3

As promised here is another example card using one of the scenes contained in the FREE "Pixie Scenes" bundle. To get the bundle just email us your order numbers from when you purchased your Pixie bundle and the download link will be emailed to you.

After printing out the image I inked edges with Tim Holtz distress ink, coloured in the grassy area in front, added shadows and deepened a few colours. I then added a little fine glitter to areas of the grass and on the toadstool and flower. Having the scene already created and coloured for me saved hours of work. The sentiment is part of the scene.

Remember that you need to have purchased both our Pixie bundles to get the free downloads.

Pixie Scenes

Hi, Karen here. It's been a while since our last release, so to make up for it we have created a number of scenes from our popular Pixie bundles, which we are giving away for FREE. Each day I will show you a card depicting one of the scenes, as you will see these compilations of images make for very economical and super quick cards. I used one of them yesterday in the Sunday challenge, and here is another.

You can layer the images yourself, but I know some of you find this difficult and time consuming. The scenes use the ready-coloured images contained in the bundles so all you have to do is print and stick. You can deepen and emphasise colours and add shadows if you wish but largely the work has been done for you.

In my card here I printed the scene, inked with a little blue distress ink in the background and layered onto pink and black cardstock, I then added a little Glossy Accent on the sun, hearts and raindrops. The border is created by using Martha Stewart edge and corner punches: Monarch Butterfly. A very simple but effective card. I made this A5 size but you can make it exactly the size you want (see our re-sizing tutorial here) - that's the beauty of the digi-stamps.

The scenes are available free of charge if you have already purchased our Pixie bundles, simply email through your order number and we will send you the download link.

Pop back tomorrow for another example card :-)

Sunday Challenge and FREE IMAGE

Hi all, Karen here with your Sunday Challenge.

My Monday Mojo card this week involved pictures of the recipient plus one of the Animal Magic downloads, Henry Hare, I decided to use the idea for today's challenge.

I would like to see a download, or downloads, interacting in some way with a picture of either the recipient or "something else". So it doesn't have to be a picture of a person but it must be a real photograph, and not just clipart etc. You could of course just do a layout and that would cover the requirements; it's up to you.

This may very well take you out of your comfort zone, but have a go and I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you come up with.

This is our amazingly talented guest designer Maddy Hill's last week with us here on Dottie's World. We wish you could stay forever Maddy, we have all really enjoyed savouring your wonderful projects. Thank you xx

Check out what Maddy and the rest of the design team came up with this week. The projects are on the designers individual blogs, just click the names and you will be taken there.

I hope you can find some inspiration there and look forward very much to seeing what you come up with, post a comment here so we can come looking. Email Louise (email sign swinging top right) when you have left your comment and she will send you her brand new Karaoke Dottie free of charge for taking part in the challenge.

We will also be choosing our new guest designer from the challenge entries. This time our guest designer will be with us for a month. Don't worry, we wont get upset if you say no, we understand it is a big commitment ;o)

Enjoy this little lady and thank you for visiting Dottie's World.

Monthly give away! & Guest Designer call.

Well folks, it's that time again! I can't believe how quickly the months are passing, it's quite scary!

As you know, tomorrow brings us a new challenge, it's quite important in two ways; firstly, everybody who plays gets a free, exclusive Dottie image and secondly we'll be choosing a new guest designer from one of the entrants! So, lots of reasons to play.

Back to the free image, brace yourself, she's a cracker! PMSL!

Meet Karaoke Queen Dottie! Doesn't she look a one!

No hand colouring this time I'm afraid as I can't get into my craft room (decorating rubbish everywhere!)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! If you would like this free Dottie just take part in tomorrow's challenge in the same way as usual but you MUST email me when your card is ready on your blog (click the contact us blinkie in the sidebar) so that I can reply with your image. I may not have time to chase you up for email addresses, sorry if I sound bossy but needs must, lol.

Guest Designer

We've decided we'd like to start keeping our guest designers for a month instead of two weeks because we found that people seem to be leaving us just as they've settled in. This way they get a much nicer stay.

All you need to do if you would like to be our December Guest Designer is join in with the challenge before Thursday Evening. Don't worry if you don't want to be our GD, we don't mind if you say no - still play along with the challenge!

Be sure to drop by tomorrow, I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Oh before I forget; As usual, non Bloggers may enter, just email my the photograph of your creation and I'll display it on here.

Monday Mojo

Yikes! I almost forgot the Monday Mojo this week! It's been quite a hectic weekend and it totally slipped my mind.

I took the chance to make a card for DH who is to be 40 in a couple of weeks. OK so it's not kind but he will see the funny side (unless his sense of humour gets left behind with his thirties!). I wanted to show you how the downloads can interact with photos, and how great pictures are on greeting cards. It has been a favourite embellishment of mine for years, you can' get much more personal than that!

The card uses Henry Hare from the Animal Magic collection to help me point out the crows feet around this poor man's eyes.

I made another sentiment circle and it's a little cruel, the wording reads "Age is not just a number, it's you getting old!". To soften the blow I placed a crown on top of his head (even though my daughter Aimee proclaimed it to be "girlie"). I think guys like a little humour on their cards, and lets face, you need someone to put a smile on your face when you hit the big 4-0! He he

...and here is the sentiment just for you if you have a 40 year old-to-be to make a card for. Click for large version then right-click and "save as". Usual copyrights apply.

Don't forget to enter yesterday's challenge.

Bye for now

Monday's Mojo....

Yep, it's Monday again, hope you all had a wonderful weekend and have started the new week with a rested body and a happy soul :o)

As promised yesterday on my blog I am giving away the sentiment I made for my Sunday's Challenge DT card yesterday; all you have to do is let me know you want it by dropping me a line. Click this link to the Charmed site and write your details in the online form (opens in a new window). Usual restrictions apply, the sentiment is for your own personal use only and must not be shared or used for commercial purposes.

For your Monday Mojo boost I made the card below. This card uses the amazing Puddle Love image from the Love and Marriage collection, I used the transparent coloured image version which meant I could layer it against my sentiment then print it out as a whole. I wanted to show you that you can use the sentiment circles as a part of the actual design, and not solely as a print and cut out embellishment, and of course it once again illustrates just how versatile the downloads are. Get just the size and layout that you want.

Other products used here:
Basic Grey Ambrosia Paper
Black and White Bazzill
Imaginisce Paper
K&Co AB Lotus Tea Box Grand Adhesions
K&Co AB Lotus Tea Box Fabric Tag
Tim Holtz Metal Spinner
Treading Water border punch
Lots of Glossy Accents
Ink
Please let me know when you have made something using my sentiment, by leaving a comment, either here or on my own personal blog, I would love to see how you used it :o)
Have a wonderful day and thank you for visiting.

Monday Mojo and FREE Word Sentiment

Tis Monday again and you may very well be feeling a little upset that the weekend is over - but fear not dear friends, Ellie Elephant from the new Animal Magic collection is here to cheer you up, in fact she is literally jumping through hoops to make you happy :o)

Products used:
  • Ellie Elephant. I used quite a lot of Glossy Accent to highlight and give depth. Using glossy accent really brings a project to life. The picture below has the flash highlighting exactly where I put the Glossy Accent.

  • Bazzill cardstock as the base card and also the two central strips - edges on the two strips have been lightly distressed and inked.

  • Basic Grey Eva Paper for main background paper. Edges were inked in Pink Distress Ink.

  • Basic Grey Eva Paper embossed with a Cuttlebug Embossing folder. Edges were then distressed with my Tim Holtz paper distresser and lightly inked in pink ink as before. Two sides were cross-stitched onto the main card (by hand). To do this I pricked the holes first then sewed.

  • Large pink hoop cut from pearlescent pink cardstock. I used two Nestability shapes to cut.

  • The hoop is decorated with pink beads

  • Basic Grey buttons and brads, plus a Dovecraft Funky brad, was also used.

  • My sentiment was created by me. I printed it out on white Bazzill cardstock then mounted on a piece of cardboard. The back of a cereal box will do just fine, all we want is the extra thickness and depth. After cutting out the shape I sanded down and lightly distressed the edges.
I am giving away my word sentiment as a freebie for you this week, if you want to get your crafting hands on it all you have to do is click this link to the Charmed site and write your name and email addy in the online form and I shall email it to you as soon as I can. Usual restrictions apply, personal use only blah blah blah.

I would love to see what you do with your word sentiment so when you have finished please leave a comment so I can come and have a look. If you want to make your own word sentiment then don't forget our class on the Charmed site.

I hope this got your mojo flowing a little. Pop back tomorrow when there will be more to inspire.

You can use as many tones of grey and of your chosen colour and you can obviously use a skintone and haircolour ( I am feeling generous! LOL )but that's it.
After coming up with the idea I wondered if it could work, Dottie and George images are usually so bright and cheery.....but looking at the images again there are many out there that would work.....not forgetting the cats and of course the stunning NEW Animal Magic Collection.

The Design Team have come up with some stunners as usual so take a look at their individual blogs for further details.

Our new Guest Designer Lea
